Job posting.

Performance and Scalability Expert

The Bunchball team is seeking a world-class performance and scalability expert to manage the infrastructure that supports the premier platform for measuring and driving user behavior across web sites.

You will be a key member of our team that runs our operations.  You should be comfortable with systems that need to run 24/7, sites that serve millions of requests/hour and infrastructures that are constantly growing.

Our ideal candidate is self motivated; capable of finding their own answers to problems, loves open source infrastructures, and takes personal responsibility for getting things "right". You should have a good sense for high performance systems architectures, and be able to work with the coders to get the right things implemented.

You ideally have 5+ years with Linux, systems administration (RHEL/Centos preferred), a strong networking infrastructure background (TCP/IP, routing, switching, load balancers, firewalls).  You've worked with high volume sites, and understand how to hook things together to avoid bottlenecks and single points of failure.

We have a strong bias toward automating tasks, rather than doing them by hand again and again.  You should too (after all: your time is valuable...) We use Nagios, Munin, Puppet and custom scripts to help achieve this.  You should be familiar with basic systems monitoring and management concepts, and ideally have strong beliefs (and scars from experience) about what works and doesn't work.

You should have good scripting skills in at least one language.  We usually use perl and bash, but there are many other reasonable languages out there.  Be prepared to show you can code -- we'll ask you to show us what you've done.

If you think you're the right person for this job, please send a resume, along with any links to previous work, blogs, etc., to .
