Piczo is a social network that empowers teens worldwide to creatively express themselves, build personal communities, and share experiences with their friends in a safe environment. Piczo's customizable content, colorful graphics, glitter text, video, and photo tools spotlight member creativity without requiring technical skills.
By integrating Nitro into their site, Piczo was able to quickly launch Avatars, Awardz and Pointz to power a fully integrated virtual economy to accomplish three things:
- Increase customer engagement, in turn increasing page views, ad impressions and ad revenue.
- Reduce customer defections. Teens are notoriously fickle and have many options available to them online. Piczo is using Nitro to increase customer engagement, loyalty and lock-in.
- Drive additional revenue through sponsored virtual goods. Given their audience demographic and focus on personalization and customization, Piczo is an ideal environment for brand advertisers to reach teens in a way that's integrated with the site experience.
As soon as Piczo users log in, they see the Awardz they've earned via Nitro's Action and Challenge functionality, as well as their Nitro Avatar and current Pointz balance. Piczo is using the Nitro Trophy Case and Avatar Viewer widgets to quickly embed these components into their user's profile pages.
Users earn Pointz by engaging with the Piczo site, participating in activities like logging in, inviting friends, taking a quiz, sending a message, writing a comment, importing their address books, and more.
Users can spend their Pointz on an avatar, which can be used as their site picture and placed on any of their personal pages. Piczo is using the Nitro Avatar Widget, but have created their own avatar style, with male and female bodies that users can choose from and 300+ assets for their users to purchase. Piczo did all this configuration via the Nitro Admin UI.
